A Journey of Artistry and Community
I'm David H. Waller, and I've been fortunate to walk a path that has allowed me to explore my passion for art and creativity. Born and raised in Albany, Texas, I've always found solace and inspiration in artistic pursuits. This journey has taken me through the world of education, professional growth, and a heartfelt decision to return to the simplicity and warmth of small-town life. Today, I find myself at the helm of Western Trail Design, where I'm grateful to contribute my artistic talents to help others.
Nurturing the Flame of Artistic Passion:
Growing up, the world of art beckoned to me, offering an escape and a canvas for my imagination. From sketching to crafting intricate models and experimenting with video creation, I've always felt a deep connection to artistic expression. These early experiences have profoundly shaped my journey.
Education and the Path Less Traveled:
After graduating from Albany in 2007, I embarked on a journey of education at Texas Tech University. With a genuine interest in both art and business, I earned dual degrees in business and electronic media. This blend of skills seemed unconventional but felt like the right fit for my aspirations—a belief that has only grown stronger with time.
Professional Steps and Learning:
Following my academic pursuits, my professional journey commenced in the ticket office of the Texas Rangers in Arlington. Those almost two years were invaluable, as they allowed me to learn and grow. Later, I transitioned to AT&T Stadium, where I had the privilege of contributing to the organization of the renowned Cotton Bowl Classic.
During my tenure as the Director of Digital Marketing at the Cotton Bowl, I found myself immersed in the world of graphic design—a skillset that, to my surprise, ignited a newfound passion within me. As I delved into this realm, I uncovered an unexpected talent that I grew to deeply love and master. The experience nurtured a fire of creativity that had been dormant, setting the stage for my journey to embrace the art of graphic design wholeheartedly.
Embracing the Essence of Home:
In 2020, life presented me with a moment of introspection. It became clear that the hustle and bustle of city life no longer resonated with me. Guided by a desire for a more meaningful existence, my wife Courtney, our two boys, Graham and Luke, and I decided to return to Albany. Our dream of building a home in our hometown became a reality in 2022, allowing us to reconnect with a close-knit community and the values that matter most.
Founding Western Trail Design:
Drawing from the lessons learned along my journey, I founded Western Trail Design. This venture melds my graphic design skills with a passion for creativity. Through this endeavor, I'm honored to help others bring their creative visions to life. It's a path that's taught me the rewards of following one's passions and contributing to others' joy.
My story is a testament to the power of humility, education, and the pursuit of authenticity. From my beginnings in Albany to my humble journey through academia and the world of event management, and finally, my return to where it all started—I stand humbly as a testament to the simple joys that life has to offer. My venture, Western Trail Design, stands as a reminder that pursuing one's passions can lead to both personal fulfillment and a chance to give back to the community.
